June 30 - Come cool off and have some fun on a hot summer day!  This annual event will be held at the Stanley Dollar Mansion at 1:00 p.m.  There will be music, a short informative talk about hospice, and a fashion show put on by Fancy Us, a group from the Walnut Creek Boutique Thrift Shoppe.  They will be modeling fashions and accessories from the shop, and all items will be on sale after the show.  All Rossmoor residents and friends are welcome. $5 per person.

Our 3rd Annual A Walk to Remember at the John Muir Amphitheater in Martinez on May 16 brought hundreds of Contra Costa residents together and raised over $29,000 in support of Hospice of the East Bay.  The heat didn’t stop many of them from enjoying the 1.5 mile walk along the waterfront through the adjacent Martinez Regional Shoreline Park.

Participants gathered in the amphitheater at noon where they were welcomed by Mayor Rob Schroder who was walking in memory of his wife, Carole.  The celebration included a reading of the 350 names of those being remembered, followed by a stroll around Memory Lane where their photos were displayed.  Paper angels with the names of loved ones were carried by volunteers as they walked on behalf of those who were not able to attend.
